Awww... watched Brokeback Mountain, then was woken in the middle of the night, my mouth on fire with springtime allergy! Induced a kind of poetic synergy!! :)) K xx
SAY
If I could pluck the thoughts
from the root of your tongue;
taste the bud of its feeling and
suck the syllables of words
from its tip;
if I could press my fingers to your lips
and take the prints of their lines unspoken,
absorbing their blood’s ink
into the chamber of my pen
to splash across a crushed and firey
beacon evening sky;
would setting sun then burn
with fever of regret
or radiate its advent heart
proclaiming bright new dawn?
Would it say
“I love you”?

This is superb!!
Kate you surely have a way with words..
..'bout time you compiled all this into a book..how about it??
I'd buy it! YAY!!
The sun is sinking in the west, the cattle go down to the stream
the red wing settles in her nest, it's time for a cowboy to dream...
from a Dean Martin cowboy song, and your big red sky kinda took me there, too, Kate. Dodge city, what's all the shooting for? Love is all there is...
This is a beautiful poem, Kate. (I apologise for not being able to review over the last few days.) There is passion, longing and sheer brilliance in your poetry, very rare in internet forums.
Let's hope it would say what the questioner needs to hear - in this magnificient brush of poetry. We're indebted to your allergies and that substance around you, causing such awakenings in the middle of the night... arousing talent in a poetic genius at work.
My heart is throbbing and my lips are quivering at the sweet after taste reahing this poem leaves my Sweet Kate. Again you have touched those dainty fingers to the keyboard and stroked a poem that hints at the passion you keep just below the surface of your smile. I love this one.
I feel as Peter about the question in your verse as well as your answer. I saw the premier of "Brokeback Mountain" and the solid turmoil of that affair spoke of love with no gender bias for me. The animated verse you penned here is a more tender review of the cinema...in your own genuis character.

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,

I find this sort of homo erotic........I don't know if its because of what you wrote before the poem........but this part here
if I could press my fingers to your lips
and take the prints of their lines unspoken,
absorbing their blood’s ink
into the chamber of my pen
Chamber of the pen........sort of phallic???
well either way, this is very intelligent and metaphoric
very visual...........
and most of all, leaning towards neither gender, but towards mystery.......I loved it! pax A
