Spain seems to be an endless source of inspiration to me, whether directly alluded to or not. Have come home with another dozen or so poems to produce like silk scarves from me travelling carpet bag... just to warn you!! :)) K xx

RESTLESS

Liquid like tears,
thin and transparent
like sensitive skin,
sleepless is a stream I can’t escape,
a ceaseless tide washing to and fro
anchoring me in murky beds.

Upsteam, downstream,
its surface breeze slips effortless
between banks of waking and asleep,
leaving me here stranded.

Would I could instead dive deep,
hold my breath and then emerge
with precious pearl of heaviness
weighting me to rest.

Contented sigh of slumber beside me
like a single free bird
passes lightly overhead,
leaving my sky emptier and more lonely
than the darkest starless night.

Happy Dog Days, Kate! Never been to Spain....did you like the music, Kate...and are the ladies really insane there? Welcome home, it matters! Looking forward to reading your cache.
- Three Dog Night
Well I never been to Spain
But I kinda like the music
Say the ladies are insane there
And they sure know how to use it
The don't abuse it
Never gonna lose it
I can't refuse it
Well I never been to England
But I kinda like the Beatles
Well, I headed for Las Vegas
Only made it out to Needles
Can you feel it
It must be real it
Feels so good
Oh, feels so good
Well I never been to heaven
But I been to Oklahoma
Well they tell me I was born there
But I really don't remember
In Oklahoma, not Arizona
What does it matter
What does it matter

You mean the poems from spain didn't remain on the plane...
Hmmm can't wait, what with Barca beating us in the final.
But my feathered friend, Simes was sighing in slumber..

Such a feeling of tanquillity and freedom of the soul soaring away this the birdie....

Kate,

Bewitching beauty in lovely verse...captivating dance of poetry! Well done, my friend. This is gorgeous. :) I'm grateful for Spain, if it produces inspiration such as this!

And you have "dozens" more?
Oh, Kate, I can't wait...even though I am not online except at
the library once a week...I so thoroughly enjoy the gorgeous images
you keep on conjuring for thirsty minds like mine.
This is wonderful, lady...even as YOU are!!!

Sometimes the oddity of life astounds me! Your poem is outstanding as so much of your work is. Others can only dream about seeing what you see and writing the way you write, and yet there is a loneliness deep inside your soul. Poet's show this about life like no other, which is why poetry is, in my opinion so beneficial! Especially from a writer as adept as you, to make the reader see beyond what we would normally see. It brings home the message that material things are meaningless if the hole inside is not full. Also that the hole has equal opportunity employment. This really connected as you can tell Kate;-) Thank you for motivating us to think, and for sharing the beauty of your work!

Love,
Eileen

This poem is full of a longing for the beauty of a haven for you. Spain is a country that you take home with you. Mariah, my daughter, went to Spain and came home totally in love with her. She'll get to return again and I wonder if she'll stay this time.
