Hey, People. Hope you're all well. I have been away on Retreat for a bit. But does that necessarily mean I'm any more Advanced? Hmmm... perhaps not... :)) LOL K xx

MENARCHE OF A WOMAN’S SOUL

When sharpened thorns have tight ring-fenced
a life and heart that’s guarded,
then is the fount of emotion’s flow
hard-dammed, full-quenched, retarded.

If to growth and blossoms, fruit and yields
the heart is not attentive,
then is a woman’s harvest beauty
blemished and retentive.

But to the hand that clears the ground,
braves barbs that pierce with scorn,
her glorious Eden cornucopia raises up its horn.

The hymen of her soul is breached,
her heart with menarche bleeds.
Her swollen, moistened womb gives yield,
her conquering hero feeds.

Smokes girl, you are just amazing. Thought I'd pick a poem a random...

"the hymen of her soul is breached,
her heart with menarche bleeds.
Her swollen, moistened womb gives yield,
her conquering hero feeds."

The whole poem is beyond words, but girlie, you are the best of the best!!!! I know just how this is! xxxx

Kate,
That Gal Nicky Goodman stole my words (she often does, but I steal her poems for my La Fenêtre Magazine) but she says it all. Great poem, fantastic rhyme and yes: the hymen of her soul ... brilliant.
Sunny regards,
Deborah

Hi Kate - great thoughts, lots to think about, and the rhyme is super - the last line sent a shiver - your poems have been aces recently - Retreat is good for advancement, of meditative poetry, evidently -first verse is a great set up, and love the phrase 'The hymen of her soul' - if breached, there is no damn strong enough - really enjoyed! Too beautiful for words; so many wonderful analogies and so much flawless imagery is crafted, so masterfully within this gem.
Especially love "the hymen of her soul is breached. -- Jeff

There is a fuschia, called the "bleeding heart" most glorious in it's presentation, yet so delicate, easily bruised.

They are just NOT wired as we are Kate!

Sad that you still feel this way after the retreat Kate, one would have hoped not. Your mind has a gourmet feast with words Kate
and your poems are always so unique and creative, it should tell the soul to shape up,and get with the action;-)

As I read more and more of your work, I am struck by the finely tuned imagery and perceptions you employ...and by the classical construction of your verse. This short ballad of yours in a perfect example. This is poetry.

Wow! You had a menarche on a retreat? Many would truly want to experience that.

This is what real love is all about...the breeching of the soul, the fullness of the womb. Brilliant poem Kate.

Sometimes - which can turn out to be "oftentimes" depending on the degree of the soul's state of "disarray", LOL! - one needs to plunge, or fly, or simply walk away into a "retreat" of variable length and atmospheres, where one's inner "disarrays" or, simply, disquietudes, may swim, drift, or walk with us, in a mutual observation, in silence or vivid conversation, in "ear-boxing" sessions, in slap matches, LOL!... or just in a quiet shoulder-to-head sharing of all those frequently unuttered things which we need to read within, like a revision to a second book yet unwritten of a series of two - the first one, hardly edited, the one patent in the shelves of our sharings, with the title... LIFE! Then, out of such "retreats", flow... perhaps evolved concepts and feelings, perhaps not... but always, changes - thus, always growth, in some form or essence... or both! This "Menarche", my dearest Kate, certainly reads to me as an astonishing and fecund outcome of your "retreat" - a clear, even piercing vision of something well "beyond the visible", which is this phenomenon, recurrent throughout ages and social evolution (?) of too many women reaching the maturity, even the menopause of their bodies... without ever having attained the "menarche of their souls". The second stanza is especially - and breathtakingly - expressive about the "dangers" of such incompleteness... a fruit that rots in the flesh before its soul is ever allowed to ripen. Once more, I stand in awe of you and your perceptions, dear one!

Lots of Love & lots of {{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}

Like my learned colleague, Sir Richard of The Cedars, I am not on familiar ground, here, but after reading your gallant words... you're taking on the deepest of that which transpires between the woman and the man partaking of the ultimate. Your message strips away doubts and shortcomings of lovers, while balancing physical and spiritual love Bravo! Thanks, bundles. Your poem is beautiful reading. - Bill

The hymen of her soul is breached <-----"Once more to the breach dear friend" Yet this can be the area one needs to be breached to feel and be loved, yet many couples never enter this area of the heart, living a life, unfulfilled, sad, lonely, only once a womans beauty is appreciated and loved, then her life will know no bounds.

I don't mean cover girl beauty. That's less than .005 of the population...

Without, there is no relationship worth having, as it is a lie, denial...

Cum Bay Yah...

Menarche ... the first time that a girl or young woman menstruates??? This is an interesting analogy KB and one that seems deeply personal and amply supported with simile that reflects a select creative awareness and, what to me, in a somewhat convoluted way, reflects a kind of emptiness, or disenchantment with the shallowness in relationships.

But then ... what the heck do I know!

Blessings and Light ...
