YOUNG LOVE

In their touching
farewell clinch

in Arrivals

I saw a cradle
dangling
from the cusp
of a new moon

and wondered
how
in all the world

it is possible
for two old souls
to collide

and for babies
to be born
in heaven

the cycle of rejuvenation depends solely on how vital such "old souls" allow themselves to be ...

conceptually unique, simple yet extravagantly complex ...

Cradeled in the arms of Mother Night, she sleeps--
her breath, a sigh on the wind--
she wakes-- hungry-- wailing--
and sleeps again-- hushed.

And oh, how the old souls look on,
with their wise, blinking eyes--
winking
from every brow of heaven
until the moon grows old
and disappears--
baby,
cradle,
et all.

this reminds me of Wordsworth's famous lines...
"Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting:
The Soul that rises with us, our life’s Star,
Hath had elsewhere its setting,
And cometh from afar:
Not in entire forgetfulness,
And not in utter nakedness,
But trailing clouds of glory do we come
From God, who is our home..."

If only we could keep that heavenly glow about us as we grow...
Thanks for uplifting us and causing us to contemplate our beginnings with your poetry...

Your new photo is YOU ! I like it. Welcome back.
Your words empty the heart, and say it better/ What a magnificent line of thinking... with love and creation your theme!
My envy is green, but the joy of reading is pure and white.
Am loving re-reading it. - Bill

'how in all the world'? tis magic - this poet is drunken, i blame Spanish shots of something herbal, so may i just giggle and say wow? 'I saw a cradle dangling from the cusp of a new moon' yaaaay! It's near full moon here sparkling on the water - cheers to Kate, 'babies to be born in heaven', and a little hiccup :)) Lovely read to come home to, cheers Kate xx

Undone by the beauty and Grace in these lines, Kate - my words useless in the face of greatness such as this - STUNNING.

And I would say that old souls often collide

and that well, babies are always born in heaven. :)

Cosmic gestation of the starseeds (we're talking it takes millenia!) and delivery from the embrace of gravitational coitus. It is no quickie, Kate! Physical union way up that high must be an orgasmic shibboleth! Hope this finds you in the proximity of the new moon...biscuits and Earl Grey to ya...

Love Always,
Sage
