A whimsical repost from November 2004, resurfaced for no other reason than waking up this morning feeling totally GREAT! Best night's sleep I've had in years, as if resting in the lap of the gods... man, that feels gooooooood! :)) xx

LETTER FROM A FAN

You don't know me,
what my life is like:

the colour of my bathroom walls,
the contours of my environment,
the people I share my world with.

They say that passion
gives you wings to fly,
makes your eyes sparkle,
your skin glow and causes
your hair to shine.

It keeps you fit,
imbuing fresh energy
and joie de vivre.

You don't know me;
we may never meet
and will certainly never
make love.

But I want you to know
that, in the morning,
when you awake,
you will be refreshed
and beautiful

every day of your life.

I have read and reread this poem over the past week, each time coming at it from a different angle...each time I come to the same conclusion...it doesn't matter who the "fan" is, but rather I get mesmerized by the voice, by the light, by the airiness and hope that I draw from reading this poem.
May you have a wonderful new year.

There is so much we can grasp from your work Kate...is it the emotion of expression that fills the mind or the passion so well hidden within the idea of a fan...sleep can be elusive or an energizing pleasure...even the Gods rested...mainly one who created this Universe...and we can still see the passion of life around us...your thoughts within a repost have me going on and on...

maybe that passion is rubbing off...

nice ...

Ahhh, this is so true, and your enthusiasm is catchy dear friend!
May it never end!
Everyday of your life
and through curses of strifes
may you be lifted as the curtains go up
and you feel the bright lights!

Kate, I agree passion for life does allow us to soar high in all that we do in our lives without this "spark" of hope, "we" fade like the beauty of a dying flower. It wonderful to open our eyes and suck in the joys of being alive. This is such a great write! I love your writings.

Passion. A tad bit of jealousy. Both, in these lines of (wanted) refreshment - well done, Kate. Doesn't it feel wonderful?!? A good night's sleep makes the day so much better.

I kept wondering how to interpret this one. Is the author talking to us readers? Are the characters fictional, is it irony, or a simple wish? Is it you, Kate, speaking to Kate? ;) Funny how I decided to get lost in the possibilities!

Your excellent writing saves me from writing a fan letter to you. From your poem, it would only confuse things, and gawd knows they are enough that awreddy yet! You always take us on a new road to happy land, and we love you for doing it. - Bill
