A re-write of a very old poem, Transcendental, based on short prose by Virginia Woolf.

HUM

Dreamlike
on the blue-green
edge of reality;

weightless,
out of body,
into spirit –

a mere subsonic pulse,
a heartbeat.

Prescient, a palm
on my head
presses me down
deeper to
sublimation,

lungs inflated
from intimate,
unknown
mouth-to-mouth,

fullness blown
onto my lips,
idea a throb
in my throat.

Swollen, I float
mysterious,

first thoughts fluttering,
a quickening
of spawned progeny,
immaculate and inspired.

A bumble bee as yet
unmade for flight,
I rise awkward
yet somehow manage
to land with grace,

words my inadequate,
ephemeral wings
dissolving into light.

A mixed experience, with hybrid sensations... inflating, floating, fluttering... dissolving. A different perception adopted.

Excellent poem, Kate. You really do a great job at creating a weightless feeling with your words, a kind of spiraling, floating sensation. It felt as though I was drifting into a dream or an alpha state of meditation. Love it!
Take care,
Sherry

From the smoke of a burned our forest here comes falling an angel with ephemeral wings dissolving a flurry of rain drops like tears from the sky.

Kate, for me, the first word sets the tone for this entire poem. It feels light and dreamy. Very imaginative. Love and Hugs,

Metamorphosis laden with a delicate grip transcending personal coherence copping a buzz-hum in a fever of flight, the verbal equivalent of the state of mind. The poet's imagination is bathed in journey in the inner and outer reality of existence....you've grown a stinger, Kate!

Sage

Kate,
Feathery and weighty in one, the images evoke awareness beyond the usual; love "idea a throb in my throat" followed immediately by, "Swollen, I float mysterious"...
Great work.

I had strange thoughts when I first saw the title, but . . . This was an empirical delight, and by that I mean if we can write it, it is real and proven simply because the words has writ. Lovely cascade of thought no matter how short-lived your wings were at this particular time. Good.
