a brief walk round The Den tonight seems to indicate that many of us are "in the wars". Love and BIIIIG hugs to one and all in this respect and my good wishes for better things to come as the year progresses. But time, also, perhaps to celebrate wot we got while we still got it... today I returned from a bi-annual check with my breast surgeon who has given me a clean bill of health for another six months and, with that, it means that the all-important five-year recurrence-free watershed has almost been reached since the original cancer. Thank you always for your care and support - I know that there are others among and known to us who are similarly going through this struggle. So, girls, please DO be vigilant - and men, too, if you've enough to grab a piercing onto! The stats this side of The Pond are a sobering 1 in 9 occurences of breast cancer in women. BE WELL, PEOPLE! :)) xx

ANNO DOMINI

There’s a mark on my wrist
that changes hue
throughout the day and night:

grey with yellow freckles,
it’s part sunshine and part rain
at eleven over coffee;

ruddy at three, it’s smudgy
as the sticky rim of lipstick
stippled on my cup.

At later, in-between times
its gathering blue collects
a dusk of blackbirds
home to roost.

I don’t know what I’m seeing
but I feel it all the same:

defiant of self-healing,
time’s bruising grip
burns deeper with
each successive day.

Thank goodness the cancer stays away and may it continue to. But the bite of time takes it out of all of us a bit each day. Love it. Liz

Praise the skies, Kate. Powerful! Metaphorically brilliant with haunting imagery, i.e '...it's gathering blue collects a dusk of blackbirds home to roost'. God bless you and keep you, always...

Time's at war with everyone of us, Kate, but before he withers our roses and lilies, we have time to celebrate existence, being alive.
Just like Tony Bennet says, It's a wonderful life!

Wishing you many picnics and dixie cups filled with the day's wine, Kate. I have come to adore you in all that you stand for...I came on the scene when you were first going through your bout of unhealthiness. I've watched you through the windows of friendship across the miles...the thing that sticks in my mind and always will is the little houseboat boarded up on the beach where you visited...self-healing shores and in the company of All-There-Is in the waters of creation and the tides of tomorrow, the friends we make and the footprints we leave in the sand, some indication that we have inhabited life...be well, Kate...

Love,
Sage

Where did this idea come from. Kinda like a mood band in the flesh.
This so captures the imagination that I wanted to see the colour of your moods for each day of the week. Felling colours and thinking in colours is what Mozart and other greats thought in.

All the breast of health buddy boo xx
