Oi-oi! :)) Just back after a pleasant week's vacation at home... How y'all doin? K xx

MORNING AFTER

How will she describe him?

Heartbeat of wings fluttering against
soft guidance of her palm,
dispersing into light?

A body seemingly blessed
with many hairy legs
wrapping tight around
her goose-bumps?

Snaking smooth muscle
tonguing grooves through fields
of her whispering summer grass?

Finding his cup unwashed
in the sink, the coffee pot still
just warm to the touch and a
perfectly-filleted blue-grey fish
left on a plate for her breakfast,
she knows what he is:

a quicksilver flash of ripples
and scales leaving only his
sequined residue on her
too-slow, Diana’s grasp.

"How will she describe him?" An interesting thought. Will she describe him according to his characteristics, or through the emotions she carries into the morning? A little humor here....

Quicksilver and slow, different time scales! Brilliant writing Kate, effective, refined and... a lot of fun.

great images compliment the emotional nature of this poem ... Diana's grasp is elusive, no?

This seems to be some kind of aphrodisiac for romance. Way to imagine, Kate. I liked that electric dynamite ending.

You blend myth and romance, Kate. That first stanza made me think of Leda and the Swan and that huntress 'grasp' at the end brings the whole work round...and in between - and here a pun would be easy but I'll resist - a sensuality and an eroticism that arouses, stimulates and delights.

Well, Kate, I see that taking some time off, has improved your love life...Nicely done. It's been a while since I could savor the "morning after"...I am jealous..nicely and erotically written..
Lovely to have you back among us... (Check out my poem United by Love and Destiny, I wrote it in honor of my daughter's marraige two weeks ago)

Much peace, love and light,

Straight from the luxurious pen of Kate, refreshed after a holiday. A lovely, whimisical metaphor. Yes, 'tis indeed "Morning After" and the grasp is in fact, spot on. May peace and love be always with you my dear friend. Jon Michael

Did I give you permission to describe me? (LOL!) I guess that I forgot I did. A poem that "slaps my face" in a nice way. Thanks for sharing, Kate. Love and best wishes to you,

Oh, the metaphor in this--->

"Snaking smooth muscle
tonguing grooves through fields
of her whispering summer grass?"

Post-coital, the dessert of fish after the main course! Mmmm...delicious and explicitly residual!

Sage

Sensuality runs through, much like a cool breeze over a sweated body.
No doubt it was a refreshing week for the whole family basking in those English Channel breezes.
