SIREN
Flash of sonic blue
and your mind leaves the station
waving fond farewell.
Reason bids goodbye;
soft flesh tingles at her call:
irresistible.
Her voice you would climb
if it were Rapunzel’s rope
of cascading hair,
or a mystic’s path
paved with red-hot, steaming coals
walked barefoot to cross.
Her whispers beckon
down all your inner hallways,
warm wind through a conch –
sea, salt, sinew, scales:
heart-tide’s restless push-and-pull
sings ceaseless within.
paved with red-hot, steaming coals
walked barefoot to cross."
haiku-chyu to you for this.
Sheila
Her voice you would climb
if it were Rapunzel’s rope
of cascading hair....
So glad you're back, Kate.

I love the allegory of the tides motion and the heart, of which you have combined in a tug 0 war kinda way.

That, then, is the essence of the poem. It is the end-all and the end-game. Climbing voice-ropes would be a minor miracle, why then, do I sense this is a tragic ending?
So good to see you delving into the poetical side of you, Kate. Always, ALWAYS a pleasure to read you.
