Interwoven in my mind
Is the hardships left behind
Taunting, teasing reminders of
A different time a distant love
Things one weaker could not bear
Of someone who had not a care
Rather cut you with a knife
After all, weren't you his wife?
Bruises seemed a way of life
Horrid way to live in strife
Interwoven in my mind
Memories I have left behind
Makes me want to scream out loud
Used to wonder my lord how
One could carry so much rage
Almost put me in my grave
Learned so much since bygone days
Stood up tall began anew
Was tired of the daily blues
Packed my bags and then I flew
Interwoven in my mind
Glad this is a different time
Children grew to have great souls
Watched their mother become bold
Reaching out to help those who
Bring back memories
Of what she'd been through
Watch them gain their self respect
Victims don't always stay a wreak
Some break free and start brand new
Never losing sight of what they knew
Excellent - a different write from you. Things change with time. The weaklings don't stay weak forever. Everyone gets their chance to rise. Loved this!
