A soft summer breeze
gently stirred the willow trees
silken silence swept the lawn
and my heart felt
the ache of alienation
as I pondered the outcome
in all its forms
knowing you
knowing me
magnets of attraction
polarities of repulsion
slivers of love
carefully chosen
sometimes given
sometimes witheld
by reasons obscured
in the grain of complexity
forever buried
in that cell we retain
where sanity reigns
with anonymous name
designed to protect
from future pain
inflicted by intent
conflicted with error
there goes another
swallow on the wing
flighting its way
from meridian to zenith
losing its way
in the maelstrom of life
sensing its direction
is distorted by possession
realising there is nothing
that remains but love
a chipmunk disturbs
my train of thought
bringing me back
to reality again
as your heart hardens
beneath a cloud of dark
relinquishing the tenous grip
of love divine
as I clung to the memories
of what we once had
a brief moment balanced
on poles of providence
threatened our existence
by extremes of emotion
two wills combating
for supremecy foretold
and just when it seemed
that all was lost
deliverance entered
in a guise untold

Interesting indeed..........vying for supremecy, it's what fragments everything and we find ourselves in a world of lost and fragmented pieces

'Better Without You'is a compelling narrative that explores the complexities of an affair, hidden secrets, and abuse. It also highlights a daughter's heartfelt journey as she cares for her mother who is battling dementia.

I wasn't sure until the very end that there was going to be a survivor, but I'm glad and grateful there was!
Wonderfully penned emotions!

I hope all is well as the ending seems to imply!
