Poem Artwork

Streets crowded with aspiration and excitement

Wandering haplessly looking for that next chance

Achieve the goal not found in the valleys and plains

Silver or skin the choice is up to you

Stiletto heels end the journey of long, curvaceous legs

Lining barstools and street corners wet with desire

Not by trade but alcohol-infused Midwestern girls

Searching for their high-roller ticket to life

Beer bottles lay scattered about empty

Contents drowning the losses of the masses

Tight mini’s and push-up bras tantalizing loins

Searching for a spot in the shadows for a rise

Silver strikes metal for the few and far between

Others put life savings on the line stupidly risking it all

Reality hits when their ride home rolls away with the dice

Searching the glow of neon lights for answers unknown

Sin city what happens there stays there

Sin city say I do with the gear in drive

Sin city party all night and forget it hours later

Sin city an escape so its alright

Anne, this was an excellent write. I lived in Reno, and have visited Las Vegas many times. My second child was born in Reno, and I helped pave many of roads between Northern California thru and down to Sin City. Love the town, although I am not a gambler, I only went to the casinos a couple of times to watch the shows there and while I lived in Reno. Still have family and friends living in Reno, and scattered throughout the U.S., but one of these days I’m going back to Reno and build my dream home on Geiger Grade over looking the valley. Love reading your work. If I were a faster typist, I’d be able to keep up with everyone’s posts I enjoy reading. Don’t worry, I shall return to your remarkable Den, Poet. Have an easy day.

Excellent description of a city I know is dear to you. Definitely sinful. *wink* *wink* Love the images brought to life in this.
