My skin fragranced with the masculinity of another

Free of the very frostbite once anguishing me

I journeyed for miles to gain full closure

Put to rest the wistful memories trapped in my soul

Expectations were realistic, honorable

A friendly visit, no indiscretions in mind

Our flames were ignited for others now

Stored in the catacombs of our hearts

When first we faced at my hotel room door

I could feel my spine crumbling, knees weakening

Suddenly thirsty for the touch of a forbidden lover

Denying myself the kisses of unbounded lust

No way could you see the pathetic existence of my desires

Your body language molded steadfast, scaring me away

Secretly I brush my hand invading your softness

Leaning in one last time to feel your sweet breath on my face

Would you have, could you have, or did you even want to

Six years too late the truth exposed

Mistake, misfortune, or fairytale ending

Through separate lives some things never known

Excellent write.
Why can't we turn back time, at least once in a while.

Poet, this is such an extremely powerful, well-written heartfelt, piece of poetry. One must do what one must do. Unfortunately, as human beings we have a very limited lifespan, and one must take that shot at happiness in this lifetime. I believe one needs to explore every viable option available, in the hopes of achieving that aspiration. As one looks back, and begins to wonder, should they or shouldn’t they, only one answer comes to my mind. “To be or not to be!” Excellent work. Thank you for sharing your talent. May the gentle winds of the Creator’s grace always carry you and yours safely, through time and space.

Yes Anne, secret and separate lives. I wonder what he was thinking also? Any way you cut it there probably could have been no winner.
Someone would have gotten hurt. Even if the someone didn't know what was happening. Everything is choices. Right or wrong choices in our lives. Right? This was very well written and obviously made
me think and wonder about my own choices. Bil Murray
