Nightfall approaches mapping a path of artistry
Oranges and reds blanket the blues
In an abstract canvas of unrelenting beauty
As they form a wall of tranquility in the western sky
In the north the moon peaks from between the clouds
Shining its streams of light atop the darkening land
Forming a path for the lost to find direction
The faint flicker of stars faintly appears to the east
Slowly awakening the sky in a carpet of glitter
To the distant south streetlights glow
Forming shadows of infinite shapes and sizes
The hum of the crickets echoes in sweet song
Accompanied by the occasional brisk hoot of an owl
For the 30 short minutes I sit on my porch
Losing my self to the grandeur of the moment
The stress of the day long forgotten
For I am now absorbed by nocturnal serenity
Exactly what I need for tonight.
Thanks.
