Barely assertive
Except when mad
A closed book
Short of acknowledgement
Your love blanketed me
Armor surrounding
Shielding me from all bad
Even from a distance
Inadequately expressing my love
Sometimes taking for granted
That you knew how much
How could you not
Conversations short and sweet
But emotions understood
A daughter of which you could be proud
I am not now nor ever would be
As 9/11 approaches
I remember
Fear, terror, and shock
Deaths of faces I never knew
Two years later
That very same day
A new death took reign
And that face was you
As the nation remembers
And media airs
9/11 echoed constantly
I shall pray for those who’s
Loved ones perished
To terrorists inhumane
But deep inside I will also
Be yearning for the love of you
I miss you dad
And if you can see this
I love you too
Unbelievable and a tragedy
You captured this very well. Thank you.
