Orange-frosted grey
Radiates the western sky
Projecting distorted reflections
On the lake’s serene screen
Deer peak from behind
Trees’ shadow of daylight
Soon to play in untroubled
Bountiful pastures of forest green
Cast-iron streetlamps glow
A muted flicker
Subtly enhancing the shine
Of an endless row of house lights
Sitting on my porch
I breathe in the essence
Of a half-empty glass of zinfandel
As I moisten my lips with the sweet vine
Losing myself to the peacefulness
Of the few remaining hours
A weekend quickly come and gone
But a moment frozen in time
Thanks for such a peaceful moment.

Loved your poem and the outstanding photo.
Those moments are rare-but they help us to relax, regain strength and move on.
I sit on my porch most evenings to watch the sunset.
You paint lovely images with words!
