Some things from the past you can never forgot, even though the present is so much better...

Looking at stars through smoky eyes Red swollen crusted shut Searching for answers Hidden by clouds misty presence Blue on black mars pink skin Jack-numbed pain the only cure Blurred shamelessly for the moment But will awaken come the new day Undeserved yet frequently betrothed Neither a remedy nor a solution Peering round corners when least expected Emotion runs numb for peace Memories from far in the past Still leave curdling blood No transfusion can tame Forever alive without love

I am sad to say that I can relate to this one, and I'm oddly surprised at the rush of anger I felt upon reading this. It's so sad that something so significant in our psyche can be caused by an insignificant person or past. Excellent write, but remember to appreciate what you have with Dad now all the more.
