I speak to children about the consequences of bullying, but on this one particular day, a child came up to me and told me he loved me. I saw something in his eyes that moved, yet trouble me, and I came home and wrote this.
Necks crane as innocent eyes follow my every move. Silent, enthralled children, a captive audience. In the wake of their hushed response, I hear the echo of my own words. Anticipation looms, awaiting an answer. A solution, an explanation, I cannot provide. I have let them down. For I can only share my story, not repair the social injustice that has befallen them. They are victims, as once was I. With only my experience to offer, I silently pray to ease their anguish, whilst knowing I cannot.
I'm saddened to see that your poems seemed to come to a halt in 2004. It seems to me that you are serving the children, making an impression and an impact on them with your honesty and love.
I want to look up your "Joyful Productions" site because I too am impressed with your bio and what you are trying to accomplish.

Be careful not to sell yourself short, Patricia. We make an indelible impression upon children, even unknowingly sometimes. It so matters. Keep the faith and know that children and hearing and learning from you.
