Did you hear her strangled cries
as they rang into the night,
or did her stillborn silence
fall upon deaf ears?
Did you think how to help her to
prevent this hienous crime of crimes
as the demon ripped her flesh and
stole her youth?
Would you cry as you watched her
virtue and innocence ground into
the blood-streaked earth below
her bruised body?
Would you watch as his sweaty form
bore down upon a screaming girl
whose youthful eyes had lost
their lustrous palor?
Or would you walk on into the
silent night to roam the streets
safely out of the shadows
And ignore the cries of the dying
child thankful it was her
and not you?
