No more hiding in the shadows Afraid to admit defeat To show the fear you craved To sound the cries that fed your lust I stand on the precipice Looking down at what you were What you made me Words forever burned in my mind I stand now where you once stood In control But without the violence Lacking the malicious intentions That bent me to your will No more hiding in the shadows Afraid to admit my desires Blindly accepting what you spoke as truth My revenge on you Is accepting what I've been granted And leaving you in the dark Where you belong

Fantastic! Wish I had this when I left my abusive controling husband.
Powerfully written, and beautifully expressed. Keep strong Danielle, and give yourself credit for having the strength to do what you did!
Good to see you;-)
Brilliant, Danielle. I just love the wise and gracious tone of this - albeit exercising and executing some sort of righteous indignation! You take the higher road indeed - and most of the "satisfaction" comes from the enlightenment that you win all the way round by becoming the stronger, more "emotionally intelligent" person, it seems to me from what is written here. Cool, calm and in control; THAT is dignity and "rising above it" indeed! Thank you and bless you for your condolences today, too. Kate xx
Perhaps "..Quiet Storm" will help rekindle old flames buried and long forgotten or express the love so deeply locked inside of your soul longing to be released.
Regardless of where you may be found in love this beautiful masterpiece can be
