I sit here waiting
while life passes by
I keep hoping someone
will see me for me
I don't want to be
another notch on a bedpost
I don't want to be
another face in a crowd
Trapped in a memory
of lost paradises
Searching for something
that I can't find

Tell me are you ready?
Ok let's go
We'll search the cave
where lost loves dwell
Look there I am
alone in the shadows
Longing for truth
but finding lies
How can I expect
another to love me
When I can't seem
to even love myself?

A view to the insecurity that comes to us as a result of those who try to take our spirit away, usually in childhood.

Oh Danielle,
I know so well what you're taking about. But I guess it is so important that we start with loving ourselves first. Only once we do, we gain self-esteem and can project this onto others.
Head up girl.
What's the latest news on your exhibition?

image sells the soul, a voice to see, a need to love self, yet captured the search, sharing self, is the first step, trust or pain, wonderful write with so much truth exposed.. Enjoyed.. Walt

Danielle, this is an extremely important reminder to always remain true to oneself before one should venture out to find love! Great write! Thanks for sharing it. Take good care and be well.

Sometimes... to truly know and love yourself, you must allow others to love you; but never accept false prophets! ALWAYS search for the "real thing," the "true love," the "soul mate." Life is way too short to be a pawn in someone else's game. -- Jeff

deeply passionate song of sorrow that you are right you have to love yourself before you can risk loving another or having them love you but...
sometimes the right one can help you to find a way to love yourself again.
