Up up and away?

Once in a while I wish I were a duck

I'd swim in smooth water

stick my tail in the air

and quack

and with a gurgle pretend

I'm not there...

We all feel this at times and come back to life as ourselves though. Good thinking on this one and descriptive characteristic appeal to all.

I like this one. I sometimes I feel like a whirlwind.
I want to bring in change amongst the leadership of countries that

I also feel that way often. Then on many days I meet that damn Aflac duck. I wish he wasn't there.

Hello, Gina. :) I feel young when I think of ducks, ducklings, quacks and webbed paddling, disappearing under water, without seeing its consequences, or, not caring, just, free-stroking on soft, placid water. The first line, though, shows exactly why the piece is taken with a rye smile of 'empathy' to older viewers of world events and humanistically abhorrant, unbelievable acts of repetitive abuses and never-ending stupidity... Um, sorry, I'm ranting, abit. :) Oh, and then the title, Up to ... where? No more 'beautiful balloons' until feelings overcome thinking...

Still, as a 'wish of weariness', I'm with you...

Yours,
Erin Elizabeth

Dear Gina,

With exemplary brevity and the right balance of tone and theme, you have encapsulated here a mood that most readers would relate to and, hence, enjoy!

This poem is surely a good example of what Ralph Waldo Emerson was referring to when he wrote in his preface to *Parnassus*: "Poetry teaches the enormous force of a few words, and, in proportion to the inspiration, checks loquacity."

Brava, Gina.

Best wishes,
Patrick Talty

I think of you with more of the grace of a swan, but if you want to be a duck now and again who am I to stop you quacking, though certainly no ugly duckling.
Love it,
Reg.
