Staying friends with an enemy Is not easy to do Moving close to an enemy Can be prickly: it’s true At every angle they hurt and bite Saying spiky things too At every moment their inner self fights Thinking others aren’t true Yet, really it’s a scared voice Telling them to cut and slay Really it’s a little one lost Not encouraged to be heard. Deep dismay! There’s no such thing as an enemy Though it’s easier to see in such ways There’s no such thing as an enemy Raise our hearts above all forays!

I agree with Laura and no there are no real enemies for given the right time and plance differences can be put aside and rifts healed.

there is a darling child's book "The Little Soul and the Sun" by Neale Donald Walsh (conversation's with God fame) it is precious like this piece about what it means to be Friends with an enemy.
