Pin your hopes on no one
In this life of ours
Depend on not another heart
Intermingled in dark clouds
Disappointments can break you
Expectation a futile ship
Needing anything outside oneself
Desolation, the company reaped
No man is an island, this is what they say
Yet, equip oneself as an island
Self-sufficient hay
Meet your every emotional need
Observe the inner mind play
Soothe your mind, rationalise your thoughts
Over reactions: keep at bay
Share yourself with others
Live the beat and play
Open our hearts, large and wide
On our own two feet all the way
You have to keep going Suzie. You have no other choice in life.
If you knew who was walking alongside you every moment of every day, you would never fear or despair again.
It is beautiful to read your poetry again.
We cannot rely on others to make us happy, we must grow and nurture our own happiness from within. When we live and share our lives with an open heart, we find that the surprises we often find are much better than our expectations.
