We've danced here on the sand together,
so many times before,
safe and clothed in each other's longing
the moon lighting our faces,
the wind wrapping round us
like a blanket,
the mist of the sea carressing our hair
the waves gently crashing in our ears.
Lost in fond embraces,
we've looked upon each other,
with a glow
that felt like it must have come
from heaven.
We've touched each other
with a joy and a sweetness
that seemed to end all pain.
But now,
naked and alone,
separate and lost,
in our selfishness and intoleration
the bitter storm of life
has come to claim us.
We beg the warmth and laughter
we've shared together
to give us shelter.
We cry out for our special love
to save us,
but it's gone,
All thats left between us
is the battered ground
and the lines we've drawn.
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
