How have I allowed,
intoleration to creep inside,
when disregard requires my ignorance
and I could never learn to think
only of myself.
I could never be happy taking advantage
How then have I entertained greed,
When selfishness requires my change
and I can never learn just to take
without giving anything in return.
I have only longed to share my life
with those who care.
Why then would I embrace hate,
when that requires a sacrifice
I'll never learn to make.
I live now only for spontaneous joy.
I can never stop
searching for the truth
even though
everything we come to know as true
either dies or goes away.
How then have I ever lived this long
without feeling I am really loved,
without knowing
if anyone cares for me,
as much as they care for themself,
How?

Hmm this one made me think--the way u expressed and dwelled on this subject is interesting.
A reflective poem that inspires a great deal of thought. I could relate to so much of what you've written here. It seems you have acquired much wisdom during your journey through life. The final lines are a sad reflection of the human condition. Do people really care? Yes, I believe they do if given an opportunity. It's so easy to become cynical when faced with so much evidence to the contrary but I remain the eternal optimist.

Tell them how you feel. Before it is to late.
An excellent poem. Introspection at its honest best.
We are all guilty of this human condition.
Love Always, Cody
