There is a mighty wall
we build up between life and death,
so high,
we can't climb up from either side.
There's a great road
we travel,
that stretches far and wide,
that requires us all
to earn our right of passage,
yet grants us
little comfort and no place to hide.
Theres a glorious picture
we all see looming
in our future,
of the good times
we've yet to discover.
Still,
all we can learn and know and feel,
only allows us a feeble attempt
to draw a fine line,
to separate the hate
that can easily be our destruction,
from the love that can save us.
