In the barren tomb
where death was conceived
not a fragment of life
retrieved from darkness
awoke into morning.
In the empty room
where wealth was achieved
not a fragment of compassion
retrieved from solitude
would live to see the dawn.
In the silent gloom
where love was relieved
not a fragment of hope
remained to lead us on.
In the lonely place
we fell from grace.
