I've made a hundred little journeys
far and deep
into that place I call my soul
and never once returned in possession
of even a piece
of myself
that I feel can keep me whole
I've given a thousand little parts
of my heart away
to those I thought
could end the lonliness
I've allways known as love
Yet I've never allowed me to succumb
to the regression
that their selfishness sought to bring
to my caring.
I've had so much to say,
I feel my words have put to death,
a million moments
of their joy,
drowned them in the lecture
they eventually called my hate.
Lashing out
with all the anger in my life
that I regret.
Yet I've only sought
to fill them with love
and teach them how to share
equality,
the only truth I've ever known.
Mary Angela Nangini's poems celebrate the richness of life and love. From the city to cottage-country and the roads in between, Nangini explores the changing seasons of her varied region. (This book will soon be reprinted in hard cover.)
