With nowhere left to go
The settlers loaded wagons
and journeyed west
to the new and unknown country
Their sons and then their daughters
brought to life under the moon.
Because of them
those forsaken special people
who worshipped this land of wonder
were slain and trampled under
the footsteps of the believers
of God and rightiousness
and laid to ruin.
The boundless love that gave us
the beauty of the mountains
was somehow trapped under the fountains
that we built in the name of progress
Our buildings in time grew taller
till they eventually
overtook the wilderness.
With nowhere left to go
the explorers loaded ships
and ventured forth
into the new and final frontier
this time
the sons and daughters
of their disharmony
grew weak and died
from being put to the test too soon.
In spite of them
these special people
who had built machines of wonder
in a moment were torn asunder
by the forces of the wrath of nature
threatened to be frozen and doomed.
The boundless love that gave us
the warmth of the sun
was somehow lost and fell undone
under the weight
of our sins of the past
finally leaving us
nothing but the sky
to search in endlessly
for a final place to rest.
