They start down deep inside
old thoughts wistfully wafting up
the hallways of my soul.

memories of turnpikes and tollbridges
landings and longings
and all that I have lost
searching for shore.

They come from deep inside
old feelings quietly sneaking up
and hopelessly begging
to be set free by my heart.

They tease me and drive me in circles
leaving me
only a half step ahead of my pain

far too empty and lonely
to be filled by anyone in the present.
far too beautiful silent
ever to hope to be heard
Too incomplete
to ever be completed.

You have pain here, written into every word and it tears at my own heart as I understand where you've been and why you cry. In life..in love...we can't do it on our own but to live and love again we must understand that...just perhaps...we may have never known but the one side of loving. To embrace real love is to couple it with it's twin and believe me...I'll never stop searching. Once you realize this your heart still aches but it aches for what it's been missing not ever having the love that is unselfish and reciprocates. Pierre...it is all possible my fine poet friend...just believe.

This is soul-stirring poetry, Pierre. Thank you for sharing it. Oh, and by the way, I can relate to this on a level or so. Love and peace to you,
