It should'nt be
so hard to remember
the smile
a stranger lends to us in passing
the favors of others
offered up to us in kindness
the innocence
on the face of a child.
It should'nt be
so easy to forget
the lonliness and patience
in the eyes of a friend
forlorn and lost
only waiting to feel the love we send.
It should'nt be
so hard to witness
the crying of humanity
through tired eyes
losing the hope
of finally seeing
the truth through all the lies.
It should'nt be
so easy to exist in comfort
never longing to touch reality
never needing
to breathe in
the gentle mists
that float on the forests of wild.
