We were,
angels thrown to earth as children
with hearts,
as soft as the dew of morning.

Souls lost in an evil tidal wave
that crashed us so long ago,
washed our minds
of all but the colors of love and hate
without warning.

Changed us, made us,
beings of passion only longing for joy,
yet with special needs
too gentle to be fulfilled.

Bodies left alone to be tormented
desecrated and abused,
raped by each other
and all the sadness of the world.

Our innocents still lies within us. It is up to us to keep our innocents intact that the evil doesnot corrupt or control.

Stark, real, sad; yes but also good to face and to realize. Thank you, Pierre. Let us rise up and go on to better things and eternity. Love and peace to you,

Regis

I've been thinking of what our parents endured and all that our generation witnessed growing up, despite their best efforts to shield us from suffering. Even in the fifties, that time of relative comfort after WW2, the threat of nuclear destruction and lynchings fed our fears. And then the Kennedys, MLK, riots and Vietnam. I wonder, did we ever have the chance to be children? Is that why we cling to innocence? Yes, this write is very sad but could be an anthem for our generation. Fine work, Pierre...
