I've reached out for love
so many times
only to feel a few moments
of fleeting passion
and only to find a sadness
my heart could no longer contain.
I've longed for understanding
through my wants so sublime
took pains not to disturb the currents
of another's motion
only to find a madness
my mind could no longer retain
I've hoped to conquer lonliness
inside another heart in tune with mine
only to discover that the dissent
between two souls can brew a potion
strong enough to destroy any happiness
that between them might remain.
