I lay in peaceful sleep then jolt awake
lost and alone in the dark
and nothing
or no one comes to save me

save the ticking
of the clock
to let me know
that time won't stop.

I wander in my head
seeking joys that are long dead
chasing shadows
in my dread

Missing days that trapped my heart
wanting them
only for reasons long consumed
by the selfishness of others.

As I tread opon the shifting sands
of the shores
of the lonliness
in my soul

I feel the winds
of my forgiveness
at my back
pushing me forward and keeping me whole

As I cry, face in my hands
in my emptiness
love reaches out from afar
to save me from being alone.
