Fine Wine

The fine wine
of good that we've poured in innocence
now has a taste
that everything we've known as right
never supposed it should.

The fine line
between pacifism and violence
now has a haste
that beckons it toward a night
we never dreamed it would.

The fine vine
we've clung to in indifference
is now unchaste
and fleeing from our sight
faster than we ever knew it could.
