A long time ago I wandered
out into our world

and through the storm of emotions
my heart and soul were hurled

with evil ever threatening
to break my soul and bring me doom

but I stood my ground
and claimed my room

A long time ago I learned
hard work never goes unrewarded

and that surely
I was pushing forward

and all that was good
was on my side

and happiness would be my reward
if I but tried

A long time ago I was lost
I was blind

Now I know this world is just all of us
some of us are cruel and some are kind

Sooner or later we will all find out

that the love that lives in each other
and all around us is our jewel,
our hope that begs us never to be unkind

Reach out
to those you know
who suffer in sadness

Lend your eyes
to help show the way
to those who wander blind in their madness

lend your ears
to those who have
no one to listen

That the good
in their hearts
might glisten

Reach out.
