I'm so weary

of hiking alongside you

walking on rice paper

every time

that I've stepped

too hard

and the paper crackled

you tore it out

from under me

leaving me to crawl.

I'm so lonely

sleeping next to you

lying on rice paper and wishing it was linen

every time

I roll over to hold you

the paper tears

and you are even further away from me

leaving me to myself again after all.

Regis
