The girl on the highway

flags me down

and I pull over

she offers me 20 dollars

or to sit on my lap

for a ride to Joshua Tree

says she missed the bus

I let her in

she spots a dragonfly applique

on my dashboard

she shows me

her dragonfly tattoo

says she knows

I'm a good person

and halfway there

she slips 4 dollars

between my legs

she says I'm sorry

I promised you 20

but I only have 6

and I need 2

for the bus ride back.
