I was walking down the Old Country Road, Feeling very sad, and Oh, so alone. My mind, my heart, my soul, very dark and cold, My life seemed so empty, nothing to behold.
Something lay in my path, very shiny and bright, It gave off a glare, reflecting the great sunlight. I bent down and took this marble into my hand, Suddenly, I remembered when life was just grand!
This tiny object that caught my eye, Took me way back, into days gone by. I sat by the roadside and drifted back through the years, To the days of fun and laughter, without any tears.
Engulfed in memories of when I was a child, With my brothers and friends, playing games, running wild. Life, it was so simple and happy back then. My heart started dancing, my face bore a grin.
Hours passed, three or four, as I sat there that day. The sadness I had felt, just fluttered away. I held onto this marble, so small and meaningless. It’s funny, how it filled my afternoon with such bliss.
Well, how did it get there, this odd little toy? Perhaps it was dropped, by a young girl or boy. Or could it have come as a sign, from God above, Placed there to remind me, of His undying love?
When I was feeling quite down, and in my darkest hour, I went to a pleasant time, our minds have this power! With a smile on my face, a light heart, the pain did not last. My faith restored, happy times will come, they have in the past.
As I went on my way, my mind now at ease, I took in the beauty, and warm, gentle breeze. I continued my walk down the Old Country Road, Looked up and said “Thank You,” He had lifted my load!
A beautiful story of life told on "The Old Country Road", delivering a wise message from the source of grace and love, through the lines of this poem, "The Old Country Road".
Thank You for sharing wisdom, beauty and grace through Your poetic art.

Cynthia, it’s very easy to see why you have such remarkable clarity in your journey, and the unique vision to allow even the simplest of things, which can bring soothing comfort to a confused soul, should one choose to look for some relief. Although this is another one of the beautiful, spiritually uplifting and sensitive poems that I was going to post for you, I’m glad you decided to post it on your own site. For some reason this wonderful piece has more of an impact reading it here, verses reading it on paper at home. It’s probably because the picture you chose allows one’s mind to drift through the many curves that are dealt as one moves throughout life. However, since one can see beyond the shadows, and where the light begins to shine on the pathway once again, ties and shapes this gentle piece together very nicely. It is a joy to read, and I thank you for sharing it with the world.

You have penned a wonderful piece. It is so wonderful that a piece of marble can ignite the memories of your childhood. An inspiring and captivating poem that is well-penned. Enjoyed it very much.
Cynthia,
Again you have brought beauty to the morning. It's the simple things in our lives that hold the most meaning for us..yet we tend to look over them way too often.
That day it was a lost marble from the pocket of a child..tomorrow may hold the smiles of the unknown child.
Pathways narrow and widen so many times throughout our wanderings that we lose directions often..but when we happen to find our way back it's such a glorious occasion.
Thank You Cynthia for this offering of hope.
