~In Dreams~

Come to me in dreams

quiet the longings, keep them at bay

Under cover of night I need

a taste of yesterday

Come to me when lights are low

and the moon hangs in the sky

with your voice and touch

greet me in soft surprise

Last night my love, in dreams we met

in the melancholy way of sleep

And how today shall I forget

when dreams depart, and memories keep

If perchance the shadows break

dreams fade and change in tone

dawn arrives and I must face

waking up to the sounds of being alone

O, I love this! So soft, so lyrical, your phrasing carrying me through romance and then the emptiness of "...the sounds of being alone." And it's so sad when "...dreams fade and change in tone."

O, yes, I feel this deeply. You move me with your insightful passion. You have such a gift!

With heartfelt admiration,
Richard

Carole - May I say that you speak for me, also? Would that we had an acceptable way to be sure of that person person we wish to know better. In today's climate, it appears that we must go on wondering how it mgitht work. Your words make it deeply poignant.

See the pen is heating up
The ink juices flowing

Stunning, Carole, as usual. (:D This can refer to loves who are gone, or loves who are here but not near; and don't we all have both?! A beautiful, haunting write.

Wistful, wishful and longing. Yet so real and down-to-earth, too. Subjective and objective in equal part - I love the balance which gives dignity and harmony. TY K xx

This is a nice poem, your thoughts express well a dream of desire and the view of emotional love within a very nice display of this thought through poetry...even the loneliness when one awakes is set within the dreamy state of love...nice...
