Views Outside a Window

Somewhere in the room

a warm wind strumming

a loose screen at an open window

Through an oval leaded glass

the twilight beyond

looked sharply beveled

and organized into a pattern

that anyone could understand

The clouds crawling down the sky

might have been

the out runners of a storming horde

still hours distance

Crawling across the porch

an eight-legged harpist moved

and silent arpeggios trembled

through taut strings of spider legs

A beam of light

stitched silver filigrees

across the gently moving grass

as repetitive bat-wings of shadows

scalloped the side of the house

The world wears many veils

and layered with secrets

that cannot be perceived

with merely a sixth sense

Sometimes you hear only

a deep hollow potential for sound

The first part of this piece paints a vivid picture. The imagery strong and consistent, beautiful. But the last stanza for me stands out as striking (and could in all honesty stand on its own).

This moves with all the grace and flow of the "music" you so describe, Carole. The consummation in the final stanza is beautifully conceived. Expresses the inexpressible so articulately. TY K xx

Just beautiful, Carole!! Thoughts that run through the head on a dark night, looking out on.... the view outside the window. A deeply pensive write.

Very thought provoking indeed and a bit mystical I think...wonderful imagery, the world does wear many veils and yes people harbor many secrets beneath these veils only allowing to be seen what they wish to divulge...great write, enjoyed this much...again a captivating and thought provoking write.
