~Restless Night~

Colors drained from the day first

then blackness ate from the edges

to the enter

shutting down my vision

but not my thoughts

Restlessly tossing

letting my mind pull me

into the surreal

then wandering lost

through slippery landscapes

made entirely of illusions

The sun began pushing

the night from the sky

and my thoughts kept chasing around

in smaller and smaller circles

seeking answers

that fit like a faithful

denim shadow

Hearing from the wind

ghostly exhalations

shadows escaping

and blending into dawn

Answers appear and vanish

only to reappear

covering the illusions

believed to be truths

with clarity

It's a wonder you didn't roll right off the bed! LOL!
A wonderful dream display in the deepest apportions of a burdened soul...coming to light!
A night like this requires a good night sleep!

Dear Carole,

Oh, the restless night pulling at us, making us yearn for the light of day. I can relate.

You have such a soft and gentle style of writing, Carole, and I enjoy it very much. Your words flow over the tongue like a fine wine and the imagery is wonderful. "...then blackness ate from the edges ..." How I wish I had written that! Remarkable, as are all of your images throughout.
Love,
CJ

At once powerfully intense and delicately insightful. Greatly enjoyed this moving work that pulls the reader deep inside shadows and flashes of despair and hope.

as shadows thoughts converge on our perceptions, most bring with them a sense of dismay and the contours of deception ... yet, their purpose or secondary construct is to transform our illusions by forcing us to confront their design ...

excellent poem in all aspects, Carole ...

The subjects dealt through the lines of "Restless Night" made this composition a philosophic-poetic bouquet scented with esence of wisdom... "Restless Night" did impress me for its rhythm, poemization and contents.

I salute You, Poet.

In gratitude and reverent admiration,
