~ A Scrap of Memory ~
I find myself standing by a window
looking more inside than out
as if seeing an image within a picture
The view before me changes
as I look beyond the dimness
reflecting back at me
Images become unclear almost obscure
showing me a room that appears unused
Seeing scraps of laughter
scattered by children
and indigo stains of sorrow
hiding in the shadows
Bits of party ribbons
scattered and long
forgotten in one of the corners
Beneath the dust and cobwebs
discarded long ago
a faded theater stub
When I remember him
his scent was expensive

This is beautifully penned poignancy: lingers on all the senses, like expensive perfume. Well done.
