Imagine that art, any art

comes out of nowhere

as if it is a new concept

shows a foolish lack of wisdom

The greater truth is

that everything, no matter the art form

each brush stroke or thought captured

within a verse

comes out of something that precedes it

It is a chain of human responses

passing on from other impressions

and the power of the written word

can never be standardized or mechanized

it is unique unto itself

Learning how to capture feelings

by listening to the nature of your mind

acquiring inspiration, making something

all your own out of things absorbed

from echo’s and borrowings

and just living
