here we are again
telling each other tales
about the things
that seem to inspire you
to more unremarkable deeds

Vulnerable empath
is that you I feel?
Selling me on ideas
that make my vision blurry
and some soft-serve resolve
for incumbent plausibility

Viable constructs
eroding into glitter
through thought balloons
that manage to obscure
the lucidity of memory
and invite reticence

Volatile self-examination
that opens empty pathways
to the ruin of standards
and the wreck of levity
invoking the desire for purity
or the semblance of control
