Brroken

The air
she is bitter
and better - by far

Weathered and weathering
prisms of ice and frost-bitten
hands ply a trade of no merit
no fruition

The snow chuffs softly in drifts
whispering its aphorisms
old and some not so
and well rhythmic to the last

Winter - bastard
avails itself in mind-searing cold
curtains of razor wind
cut life to ribbons

Beneath and between
I am heartbeats and handshakes
queries and quotients
savagely aware of the suns
marked absence
