We were green once such bewildered clarity gone in an instant brilliant shocking celerity We were everything once vast and revered crushed in a hammer stroke jarring outlook uncleared We were rapid once insolent and hectic slowed with regret gravity plagued as a skeptic We were beauty once free and unmarred riddled by battle brutal endlessly scarred We were a promise once solemn with caprice broken and remade failing as each hour we cease Copyright: Brian Pellerino 2008
