"and in the end, the love we take is equal to the love we make"
-Paul McCartney
So much emptiness pooling
in places where emptiness can't collect
A manufactured malignity
in jagged edges forced to connect
So much pain resists ebbing
at shores eroding from breakwater
True harmony traded
an unceremonious slaughter
So much for fortitude
its the fear that wins the day
a sanctuary denied
nervous fingers unchecked will fray
So much for the future
investment awash in disuse
wrung hands, wrung hearts
and not a single excuse
