I dreamt a purple dream today... A voice whispered to me from the near past It cried the laments of the newly dead It sang in plaintive tones A genius turned his gaze inward and smiled He sighed past the surreal state He wrote in ebony hues A man shattered like mortality I lied in my segregated state He told only my truth I dreamt a purple dream today.
